Oh Portugal - what a beautiful country.
I've been to Lisbon before, but visiting the Algarve, this amazing coast and driving
along the coast from the very south until Porto changed my whole perception of this country.
My stops along the route:
• Praia do Barril - the famous cemetary of anchors
• Praia da Marinha - with a beautiful path to walk until Benagil
• Benagil cave
• Praia da Vale Covo
• Algar seco
• Ferragudo
• Praia dos Três Irmãos
• Ponte da piedade
• Praya do Camilo
• Lagos - a small surfer town with lots of great coffee and a really chilled vibe
• Sagres - and the lighthouse Cabo de Sao Vicente
• Lisbon
• Cascais
• Cabo da roca - the most western point of Europe
• Praia da Ursa
• Sintra
• Ericeira
• Porto
A route with so many highlights, that I can't even begin.
First things first: the most beautiful thing to do at the Algarve is simply walking. Along the coastline. There are plenty of walks which connect beaches and places and walking along these gives time a whole new meaning.
My absolute favorite beach was Praia da Ursa. Reaching it was a bit of an adventure, but there were absolutely no people and the beach is picture-perfect.
At the end of my trip I spent a couple of days in Porto and fell in love with this city and it's facets - between magnificent facades, street art and a bit of trashy sides, it's the perfect city for me. Great food and Porto Tonic completed my experience.
