What a stunning country Morocco is.
I took this trip alone, which I enjoy from time to time as one can meet people and a country differently when traveling alone.

My route through Morocco:
• Marrakech
• Aït-Ben-Haddou and a tour through the desert
• Fés
• Chefchaouen
• Casablanca
• Essaouira

Marrakech.
Arriving in this big, culturous, loud and colorful city was amazing and overwhelming at the same time. I loved the smell of spices everywhere, but I feld like I was thrown back 50 years in the old town of Marrakech.
It's a very busy city with lots of markets, but also many many green places, nice coffee and tea places and full of people.

Aït-Ben-Haddou and the Sahara desert.
This part of the tour I didn't take alone but with a guide in a small group.
We left from Marrakech and went to the fortified village Aït-Ben-Haddou, located in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, within the Province of Ouarzazate. It is an UNESCO World Heritage site and shows the ancient Moroccan architecture.
After this visit and some other villages along the way, we spent 2 days in the desert. Riding camels to the desert camp, playing moroccan music in the light of a campfire and seeing the amazing sunset and sunrise in the desert were a highlight of the whole trip for me.

Fés.
Fés was my favorite city in Morocco. It has the charme of Marrakech, but didn't seem so big and has a bit more air.
It has the oldes functioning universtiy and I was stunned with the many beautiful patios with details and greens in the Medina. The Ruined Garden was the best restaurant I visited on this trip.

Chefchaouen.
Up in the north I visited the "blue city". Well, the city really comes along with an Instagram filter. It feels totaly different wandering through the blue streets. Also up in the north the whole area is green and full of trees and plants. The complete opposite to the yellow and orange color of the south.

Casablanca.
I made this stop so that the bus rides are not too long, but honestly - what an ugly city. The giant Hassan II Mosque, which is half-built on the water was really interesting, I took a tour inside. But the rest of the city is definitely not for me.

Essaouira.
Arrived at the sea. And how different the country is there. One can feel backpacking vibes and the city is definitely less busy than others. I visited the fish market and strolled around town and drank a lot of coffee. Pretty good last stop.
