A new adventure awaits!

My first time in South America and an amazing vacation.
Our stops along the tour:
• Guatemala city
• Antigua
• Chichicastenango
• Lago de Atitlan
• Semuc Champey
• Flores

• Jungle of Belize
• Caye Caulker
• San Pedro

Guatemala city.
After the longest flight ever, we were super glad to just arrive. Guatemala city left a quite positive impression - people were friendly, coffee was great and the city actually quite creative and lively.

Antigua.
Antigua is the historical heart of Guatemala. The streets are paved and and decorated with colorful houses. The city is surrounded by 3 volcanos.
On every corner you can buy Mangosticks with pepper and chili. Quite tasty.
Around Antigua there's lots to do. First things first we took a guided hike to the Pacaya volcano. We grilled marshmallows on hot lava stones.
We spent half a day with farmer Alberto on his coffee plantation. Albertos english was non existent, but with my little spanish knowledge we mastered the day. We walked on the fields and harvested coffee beans, we washed them and dried them. Then we roasted them and I can tell you - this was the most earned coffee I ever had in my life.
Another highlight of Antigua was the cooking class we took. The food was great, we had way too much wine and a lot of fun.

Chichicastenango.
By bus, well, Minivan, we went to Chichicastenango.
The market there was amazing. So busy, so colorful. The fabrics alone were simply amazing. And watching the people and kids on the streets even more.

Lago de Atitlan.
Also around this lake there are 3 volacanos. With Kayaks we explored the lake. There are paths only reachable from the lake and there was a great bar we visited. Super cool.

Semuc Champey.
What a natural spectacle. Semuc Champey is a limestone bridge of the Rio Cahabón. The Color of the water is almost unreal. And of course we had to jump in as well. We stayed at a hostel where everyone had their own cabin in the middle of the woods. Flores.
Along coffe plantations we were going to the north of Guatemala. Flores was our last stop in this beautiful country.
In the north Guatemala was totally different. We saw a lot of military watching over the city. Flores itself is super nice and we used the chance to visit Tikal, the Maya city in the middle of the jungle.
This was an adventure. Before sunrise we took off to the tour and by the rise of the sun we sat on top of the Mayan temple listening to the amazing and loud sounds of the jungle which was suddenly awaking.
The afternoon we spent at Jorge. A place only reachable via boat with hammocks and beer, just relaxing.

In the middle of the jungle in Belize.
Huch. What an adventure.
We arrived in the middle of nowhere. The jungle. After a short introduction what to do if we see a dangerous snake we unpacked in our treehome.
There's more to do in the jungle than expected. River tubing for example. With our two guides - the dogs of the treehome :D
The night experience with scorpions within our cabin was an unforgetable moment - and scary as hell.

Caye Caulker.
Finally at the beach! We arrived in paradise. With a water taxi we went to Caye Caulker, the little island is calm and relaxed.
And we used our time there to dive. An amazing underwater world was waiting for us. We saw beautiful turtles and sharks and reefs.
And we took a day trip on a sail boat. Lots of rum, lots of snorkeling with sharks and lots of relaxing. Simply pefect.

San Pedro.
Our last stop. Another one of the little islands in Belize. The almost white sands, palm trees and colorful huts made this last stop unforgetable.
